George Clooney (Best Actor), The Descendants (Best Film – Drama), Merryl Streep (Best Actress) and The Artist (Best Film – Comedy/ Musical) continue to dominate awards season by being big winners at the 2012 Golden Globes Awards. Ricky Gervais did his best to insult everyone but was put in his place by Madonna who called him a ‘girl.’ And the showstopping moment of the evening was Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek presenting Best TV Comedy to Modern Family with the hilarious acceptance by Sofia Vergara. Other standout moments included Morgan Freeman’s Cecil B DeMille award presentation by Sidney Poitier and Helen Mirren; and Clooney’s and Streep’s acceptances. Streep had to go off the cuff having forgotten her reading glasses at the table, while Clooney recognized Brad Pitt’s incredible year in acting and his social achievements.
