Under the leadership of Cuban born Joseph C. Jimenez Foxwoods is achieving new heights and redefining luxury entertainment in the East Coast. The Senior Vice President of Casino Marketing joined the property in 2006 bringing 27 years of experience. He is responsible for management of revenue, marketing, sales and service programs.

His latest challenge is the recently opened MGM Grand at Foxwoods. The $700 million, 30 story, 825 room property is a welcome addition to the East Coast’s world of luxury. The opulent guest rooms feature stylish décor and all of the expected modern amenities. There is also the 5,500 square foot outdoor swimming pool with exclusive cabanas and a 21,000 square foot spa featuring 12 treatment rooms. The high end retail concourse includes Apple, dunhill and Bally.

A highlight of the new property is Shrine, a state of the art 20,000 square foot nightclub, lounge and stylized restaurant that offers a Las Vegas style nightlife experience within a classic Asian designed interior. The two story venue can accommodate up to 1,200 patrons and includes a 3,000 square foot outdoor terrace overlooking the pool which provides alternative dining, mingling and dancing space.

Shrine includes two private dining rooms, a 12 person sushi counter and a 225 seat dining room. The menu incorporates Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean, Cambodian and Thai flavors and spices into the mix.

There is a DJ booth, stage and multiple bars. The trendy hotspot is the premier diversion for MGM Grand guests and is fast becoming the favorite playground for celebrities and VIPs.

Entertainment is the cornerstone of the action at MGM Grand at Foxwoods and at the center of it all is the 4,000 seat MGM Grand Theater. The magnificent venue showcases some of the world’s best concerts, sporting events and off-Broadway shows. The theater is intimate in scale and elegant in design, only 126 feet separate the front of the stage from the very last row.

Top chefs have made their home at the bustling new resort. Michael Schlow oversees the kitchen at Alta Strada, a restaurant blending traditional Italian flair with modern elegance and Tom Colicchio’s Craftsteak features an array of steaks and seafood celebrating the flavors of seasonal ingredients sourced from small family farms and artisanal producers. Casual dining includes the first Juniors Cheesecake outside of New York and The Marketplace at MGM Grand offering six different dining experiences.

Gaming selections include 1,400 slot machines, 53 table games and two high stakes gaming areas. There is a fireplace in the center of it all and two circular lounges.

Guest rooms and suites are spacious, ranging in size from 388 – 400 square feet for deluxe rooms to 2,352 square feet for the Presidential Suite. All rooms include flat panel televisions, 500 thread linens, high speed internet, marble showers, refrigerators, panoramic window walls, writing desks and oversize closets.

Foxwoods and MGM at Foxwoods are an easy drive from points throughout the Northeast. The properties are located just 2.5 hours from New York City, less than two hours from Boston and within an hour from Providence and Hartford. They are close to the Bradley International Airport in Hartford and T.F. Green Airport in Providence. Amtrak and Metro North offer service minutes away from the resorts.
