Although Barão was expected to face Dominick Cruz to unify the UFC Bantamweight Championship he will be fighting Urijah Faber  instead.  UFC president Dana White announced that Cruz injured his groin and vacated the UFC Bantamweight Championship. Now Barão is undisputed UFC Bantamweight Champion.

HOMBRE: Congratulations! You are on a 21 fight winning streak. What is the key to your success?
RB: I train very hard and me winning is the fruit for a lot of work.

H: You have not lost a fight since 2005; are you keeping your training methods consistent or trying to add in new things?
RB: I have maintained the same training.  Do not switch what has worked so well for you.  Something different to my training would be my dedication.  I have dedicated myself even more to my fighting.

H: Who is presenting the strategy for UFC Fight 169?
RB: In my daily training I always practice with plan A, B and C.  The specific victory strategy however is presented by my coaches.

H: With such a strong record, do you have a pre-fight routine and/or any superstitions?
RB: As much as I love my hair, I shave it before every fight.  When trying to drop weight before a fight I shaved my head thinking it may help.  It was that very fight that I won “Best Fight of the Night.” So now, before every fight I have to shave my head!

H: What advice do you have for young men who are interested in becoming a UFC fighter?
RB: Always believe in your dream. Anything is possible! I believe that practicing a sport gives you a better life.
