DREAM CARS: So Fine…So Sweet…

08 Feb 2012 by Michael Andre Adams in Cars, Home, Speed

The look, the feel, the touch of love…Be it a dream car or
the girl of your dreams, what man can resist, right? And regardless of what
some may say, multiple choices ain’t a bad thing! So take your pick— the 2012 Mercedes Benz CLS63, the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee
SRT8 4X4,
or the 2012 Audi TTS Coupe — for
various reasons, of course…

2012 Mercedes Benz
CLS63

At the executive level, you want a little more, you need a
little more and you expect it. It’s gotta sizzle whether performing or
standing still. For you, none other than the new Mercedes Benz CLS63 AMG will
do.

Its chiseled exterior lines and elitist styling delivers
the feeling of sublime excitement at the height of luxury that extends far
beyond what many other manufacturers have been able to achieve. This is the one
that’s sure to get you the thumbs up, a nod or a smile at every red light.

At the $94,900 base level, a 518 horsepower V8 engine with
516 lb-ft of torque buys a maximum speed of 155 miles per hour, with 0-60 in
4.4 seconds. Up the ante with the $6,990 AMG Performance Package to receive a
rather racy carbon fiber engine cover and trunk-lid spoiler, red brake calipers
and more. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention the 550 horsepower engine that comes
with it? It delivers 590 lb-ft of torque, with the thrill of 0-60 in 4.3
seconds. And with all that, would you believe that this year’s new turbocharged
engine is smaller and more powerful than its predecessor?

The new seven-speed transmission boasts a wet startup clutch
that propels baby-girl like a rocket that flows as smooth as a ride on a magic
carpet. Still, it’s your prerogative to roll in Eco mode, allowing the engine
to stop when the car is standing still and start again (as fast as 100
milliseconds) when it’s time to press-on. Fuel economy for 2012 also shows
improvement at 16-city / 21-highway, up from last years 12/18.

Amidst the superior technology to respond to situations you
may hope to never encounter, the driver has available options to adjustment
steering, suspension and transmission for a personalized experience leading to
maximum adventure. With that said, you’ll want to set this one free on the
highway when no one is around. As a matter of fact, if you’re feeling this one,
invest in a radar detector!

No doubt, the CLS63 AMG is the ultimate car for the man of
distinction at the top of his game.

2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee
SRT8 4X4

Turning heads left and right all over town, the 2012 Grand
Cherokee at the SRT8 level is setting a whole new standard on the SUV front.

One friend—a Cadillac Escalade owner, was WHIPPED when he
discovered the SRT8 on approach from his rearview mirror. An instant after
catching a glimpse of the dazzling display of daytime LED running lamps
situated a level below the big brash grill and sleekly encased bixenon
headlights to the side, and he was out of his car to investigate. By the time
he spotted the set of polished, split five-20’s, the roofline spoiler and
beautiful performance enhanced interior design, he was cussing worst than a
sailor. And that was what I heard even before he got in to take ride with me!

As for a ride, forget about the days when you’d hit the gas
and wait for the ole heavy, clunky SUV to move. In fact, Jeep should have
programmed this one at the point of start-up to play the song from Ludacris that
says: “When I move you move—just like that.” A simple tap of the gas pedal to
ignite the 470 horses within the 6.4L V8 Hemi delivering 465 lb-ft of torque
and you’ll understand exactly where I’m coming from here. Interestingly,
though, a five-speed transmission is all you get to achieve 12 miles per gallon
in the city, 18 on the highway. That may be the one thing I’d change. But I’m
sure Jeep has its reasons.

Whether driving in the city or on the highway, the low
riding SRT8 handles superfluously, unlike any other SUV of comparable
size–several of which can have an awful rear wheel slip at times. But Jeep
missed it, thanks to Electronic Limited Slip Differential. However, to really
feel the fun, exercise your option to choose from AUTO, SPORT, TOW, TRACK or
SNOW. Instead, go straight to SPORT and stay there. You may never have this
much fun in an SUV again!

At the base of $54,470, the fun (coupled with SUV
versatility) is never ending!

2012 Audi TTS Coupe

Living in the city, a full-fledged sports car may be far too
tempting for some, less than practical for others. Enter the very angular,
sleek, hardtop Audi TT

Based at $47,000, with it full size front fascia featuring a
single-frame front grill, the brand’s signature LED daytime running lamps and
exterior colors such as solar orange, the thrill ain’t gone!

To keep it real with you, my fellow compadres here at
HOMBRE, TT’s four-cylinder turbo charged engine— yielding fuel economy of 23
miles per gallon in the city, 31 on the highway—boasts a 211 horsepower engine,
with 258 lb-ft of torque with a maximum speed of 130 miles per hour.

Is that
living just enough for the city? A week behind the wheel and I’m convinced that
with its award winning TFSI direct injection engine, rear spoiler that
automatically extends at 75-miles per hour and above, retracting at 50 and below,
it is!

Whichever you choose, Happy Valentine’s Day!
