Univision’s “Premio Lo Nuestro” Celebrates 31st Edition On Thursday, February 21,

Celebrating a new era, with more music and award categories, Univision’s “Premio Lo Nuestro” announced chart-topping artists from different music genres as nominees for the 31st edition of Univision’s “Premio Lo Nuestro” (PLN). The voting process starts today for the public to select “Lo Nuestro” winners from an unprecedented total of 28 categories which reflect today’s musical tastes and expanding genres. PLN 2019 will air on Thursday, February 21, starting at 7 p.m. on Univision.

Reggeatón singer and songwriter Natti Natasha leads the field of 91 artists in contention with a total of 15 nominations. Other superstars that top the nomination list are Bad Bunny and J Balvin with 12 nominations each; Ozuna with 10; Nicky Jam with 8; Becky GMaluma and Wisin, each with 7 nominations; Reik with 6; and Calibre 50Carlos VivesDaddy Yankee and Enrique Iglesias with 5 nominations each.

PLN 2019 marks a new era for the longest-running awards show on Spanish-language television as remixes, crossover collaborations and social media join the established categories of regional Mexican, pop/rock, urban and tropical music — all representative of the contemporary musical tastes that define “Lo Nuestro.”

Following the top music trends, PLN 2019 adds seven new categories: Sierreño Artist of the Year, reflecting the fusion of regional Mexican sounds; ‘Replay’ Song of the Year, recognizing the popularity of classic hits that fans continue listening to; Single of the Year, the launch of a single song that became a hit; Crossover Collaboration of the Year, hit song in which an Anglo artist is featured; Remix of the Year, popular song in which more than 3 artists are featured; Social Artist of the Year, renowned artist who shares and engages the most with fans across social media platforms; and Tour of the Year, recognizing sold-out concert tours.

The first Latin awards show of the year will showcase the new music of 2019, crossover bilingual performances in various genres, new emerging artists and more women singers and songwriters who are breaking new ground. The broadcast, from AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami, will feature a cavalcade of stars performing and presenting, plus a tribute to musical legends and a celebration of musical family dynasties that have shaped the world of Latin music.

Voting is available on www.PremioLoNuestro.com on desktop and mobile devices for a period of two weeks starting today and ending on January 21. Winners will be announced during the live telecast of PLN’s 31st edition on Thursday, February 21, starting with the red carpet preshow at 7 p.m.

This year’s nominations are based on the top 1,000 current and recurrent Spanish and English-language songs with the most plays on all Univision Uforia radio stations during the eligibility period of January 1 through October 31, 2018.
