In an exclusive for HOMBRE readers, Heineken announced the kick-off of a nationwide competition to bring a grand viewing event
of the biggest soccer club tournament on earth to the winning city. The UEFA Champions League combines the top clubs: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Juventus, Bayern… and the top players: Messi, Ronaldo, Kaka… all competing to be the best. The final, scheduled for May 25 has been the most watched sporting event in the world (175. million viewers in 2011). Now you can be a part of the action and bring the ultimate futbol experience to your city and celebrate with a cold one and your friends. All it takes is the new Heineken Champions mobile and Facebook app.
Heineken is
celebrating this year’s sponsorship of the UEFA Champions League by inciting fans
to experience the world’s most prestigious club soccer tournament the way it’s
meant to be enjoyed – with friends, a cold Heineken, and at the ultimate screening
experience. Heineken will create an exclusive viewing party in the US that is specifically
designed to provide a first-rate experience only the brand can deliver.
Fans over 21
years of age can vote until mid-April for a chance to have the viewing party to
come to their city by taking a photo of themselves enjoying an UCL match,
uploading it to the Facebook tab or mobile app, and tagging their location. Every
photo uploaded scores a point for their city.
“Heineken
is thrilled to host these one-of-a-kind experiences to celebrate the best
soccer in the world displayed in the UEFA Champions League,” said Pattie Falch,
Brand Director, Heineken. “Just like our beer’s signature world-class
taste, fans can expect a premium event that pays tribute to their appreciation for
the tournament and enhances the excitement of the viewing experience.”
The Heineken
Champions mobile and Facebook app features a leaderboard for fans to know when
they need to rally friends and family to vote. The user-friendly app also
enables fans, where legally permissible, to find their closest retailer to pick
up a few cold Heineken for home viewing or a bar nearby to watch the matches
live. At retail, a text-to-win mechanism gives fans the opportunity to
instantly win UEFA Champions League memorabilia, such as scarves, jerseys,
signed items and a special BeerTender.
Developed by Cultur8, the Heineken Champions
app is available to consumers on Heineken’s Facebook page (www.Facebook.com/Heineken) and in the Apple store or Google Play.
