Steven Spielberg‘s Civil War drama, “Lincoln,” earned 12 Academy Award nominations, the most of any film, including for best picture, director and acting for Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field and Tommy Lee Jones. Ang Lee’s “Life of Pi,” followed with 11 nominations, “Les Miserables” and the quirky romantic comedy “Silver Linings Playbook,” with eight each and “Argo” with seven nods. Although Latino names were missing from the acting categories, Claudio Miranda was nominated for Cinematography in “Life of Pi” and Paco Delgado for Costume Design in “Les Miserables.” COMPLETE LIST OF NOMINEES.

Surprising omissions in the best director category were Ben Affleck for “Argo,” Kathryn Bigelow for “Zero Dark Thirty” and Tom Hooper for “Les Miserables.” Javier Barden favored for his role in “Skyfall,” failed to make the cut.
