Past HOMBRE cover girl and multi-cultural music ambassador Nelly Furtado saw her debut Spanish language album “Mi Plan” win as Best Female Pop Album. Multiple winners included Camila for Record of The Year, Best Pop Album By A Duo or Group and Song of The Year, and Juan Luis Guerra who won for Album of the Year and Tropical Song and Album of the Year.
The Awards aired live on Univision from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Appearances from Le Reve and JabaWokeeZ added extra excitement to the festivities. Standout performances of the night included Ricky Martin, Wisin & Yandel and Enrique Iglesias. Placido Domingo received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Other winners included Alejandro Sanz for Best Pop Album.
Alex Cuba wass Best New Artist and Chino y Nacho won Best Urban Album.
Upon winning a surprised Furtado said, “I haven’t prepared anything…but in my heart I have so much to say, to the people, to the Latin world.. Thank you very much for your support and for your trust in me, thank you to my fans, I have so much love for all of you!”
The “Mi Plan Remixes” album is now in stores while her new CD “The Best of Nelly Furtado” is set for release on November 15th.
Superstar pop/rock band Camila’s ‘Mientes’ won for Record and Song of The Year and ‘Dejarte De Amar’ was Best Pop Album By A Duo or Group With Vocal. During the awards, the band performed their latest hit single, “Besame”, with cast members and fantasy special effects from the spectacular hit show, Le Reve.
Camila is currently touring Latin America with sold out shows throughout Venezuela, Colombia and Mexico. Founded by multiple award-winning composer and producer Mario Domm, Camila is composed of Mario, Pablo Hurtado and Samo, who are songwriters, producers, arrangers and performers. They have been together for four years, and have toured for more than three.
Actor/comedian Eugenio Derbez and actress/singer Lucero will co-hosted the Latin music industry’s 11th annual premier event.
