Whether you’re gearing up for a long flight or an exotic weekend getaway, there’s nothing better than enjoying a well-made drink once you arrive at the destination. Instead of ordering a drink at the bar or waiting for the airline beverage cart to roll by, you can upgrade your cocktail game and flip the switch to “vacation mode” with a few simple recipes for on-the go mixing.
With the basic cocktail ingredients packed and ready-to-go, you can mix mid-flight, while backpacking through your favorite trails or relaxing at the beach. Below you’ll find some tips and travel-friendly recipes from Hornitos mixologist, Carlos Abeyta, and his go-to tips for making a first-class drink, any time, any place!
Tips for On-the-Go Mixing:
Ø Tip #1 – take tequila along for the journey
Whether you’re flying or backpacking, be sure to pack your travel-friendly Hornitos bottles in a travel bag so the main cocktail ingredient – tequila – is easily accessible!
Ø Tip #2 – save room for citrus
Take a few minutes before you leave to pack some fresh fruit in a travel-safe bag – this will be a handy juice and/or garnish for your drink.
Ø Tip #3 – plan as you go
Grab extra mixers on your way to your final destination so you have all the ingredients you’ll need for a cocktail, just purchase a premium ginger ale in the airport terminal or order a fresh-squeezed juice at breakfast.
