How to Keep Your Workouts Hot During the Cold Months

With fall comes the impending holiday season filled with extra good cheer (re: calories, carbs, and double portions of dessert). According to Schwinn Fitness it is also a perfect time to start setting good habits for indoor exercise that will carry you through New Year’s resolutions and beyond.
Here are a few indoor exercises to try when the days get colder and darker:
TABATA TABATA TABATA
Tabata is a workout done in eight one minute bursts of activity with a 30 second rest in between. Then, you repeat. The exercises themselves can be anything you like but we’re partial to crunches, pushups, squats, or leg lifts.
BECOME A STAIRMASTER
You don’t need a fancy machine to get the most out of climbing stairs. If you’ve got a set of stairs in your home or office climb them at a brisk pace. Or quickly step up and down a single step. You’ll increase your heart rate and tone your core, legs, and glutes.
DANCE DANCE RESOLUTION
Making exercise fun will help you stick with it throughout a cold winter. Try some exercise videos that let you dance a long with the trainers. Zumba and Capoeira are some of the best known but there are plenty of them out there and many of them are free on YouTube.
GET ON YOUR BIKE AND RIDE
I know, it’s cold, you don’t want to go outside. But you don’t have to. A stationary bike like the Schwinn Classic Cruiser will help you get fit right in front of the TV. And it’s integrated VR-compatible RideSocial app lets you stay competitive while riding in classic and exotic locales.
JOIN A CLASS
There’s no better way to keep yourself accountable than signing up for a group exercise class. Find a local gym or recreation center and connect with some compadres to sweat alongside. There are tons out there but we love pilates, barre, and boxing.
