HOMBRE: This is the biggest remix of your career, how were you able to get all this megastars together?
Feid: Simple phone calls. I called them, got them excited, one, then another…it was like a surgical operation. It took a pandemic to get them together and I think it worked out well.

H: Tell us about the original song “PORFA” with Justin Quiles, it’s very romantic. What is different about the remix?
F: Everything is new. The structure, the rhythm, how it sounds. Obviously it has the essence, but the song is already a mega hit. I wanted to get people excited about the remix, and with Sky (Rompiendo) together we created a structure that’s genius. I’ve worked with him here in Miami, and we have gotten together in the last few days…very carefully.

J Balvin, Feid, Maluma

H: How is it to work with J Balvin and Maluma?
F: Very funny, because we all have our imaginary boundaries.  I have worked with Balvin before, and recently worked with Maluma on his previous record, and “Fresh Kerias,” my song from my previous album “FERXXO VOL 1: M.O.R.” I know Jose (Balvin) for many years. It was crazy to also have Nicky Jam, and Sech. It was a goal to see all this happening.

H: There are also two of ‘the Avengers’ (Sech and Justin Quiles), how has being with this group help define your sound?
F: It’s a very special collective. It feels like they were my friends for a year in Miami, and although we’re all over the place…Panamá, Puerto Rico; that year together was very special.
I have my history as a composer, Sech with his history and career in Panama, Lenny with his artistic trajectory…none of us were new; we were five artists and composers that found each other in Miami. I learned a lot from them and I got to shine because the sessions were on another level. They were all great with writing and nobody wanted to do a bad bar, and it helped me to demand more from my flow and reach another level.

H: How do you see this song in relation to the rest of your work and trajectory?
F: It feels like my first song. There are a lot people that want to reach the top with a remix but I think differently. I don’t have a major feature because I don’t want people to think I’m taking advantage of the remix to make something new, only the chorus is the same.

Feid

For me it’s an opportunity to continue showcasing my talent and give much more. I am very critical of my own career, and I hope a lot more people get to know me with this song, even though I already have a huge fan base in Colombia. This is the biggest and most special thing I’ve done since the beginning. I like to do things well and with patience.
