It has automatic format recognition which means the scanner will determine page size, color setting, double sided paper scanning, blank page deletion, and auto orientation all on its own.

There is no need to adjust settings. You can choose whether to create a PDF, a searchable PDF, or a JPEG. With the included ScanSnap Home software you select to email, save, or print scans. Files are named automatically and you can convert the scans to editable Office documents.
