After 29 years the Kansas City Royals are finally in the Playoffs. This ends the longest current playoffs drought in Major League Baseball. To celebrate the occasion catcher Salvador Pérez gifted each of his teammates with a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label – a blend crafted to toast to extraordinary moments.
Considered the “Catcher of the Future” when he joined the Royals in 2011, Pérez looks forward to what’s next. The two-time all star from Venezuela toasts to the team’s significant achievement, and reminds them to keep walking as all of their potential lies ahead in the 2014 postseason and beyond.
Perez says, “This team has worked hard to get to where we are today. We never let ‘the drought’ define us. We looked at each game as the next step in our journey to re-write history and make the playoffs. To clinch a playoff berth for the first time in 29 years is a great accomplishment, for the Royals and the city, and I’m proud to be a part of it. But this is hopefully just the first step and ‘we need to keep walking’. So I decided to give each of my teammates a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label to remind us just that.”
