A Latin Take On The Classic Jack and Coke

For Halloween and beyond try some fun takes on one of the world’s most popular bar calls, Jack and Coke. Jack Daniel’s has teamed up with Javier “El Glutster” Cabral to create some Latin twists on the classic cocktail. He is most recently known for his work as Associate Producer of Netflix’s The Taco Chronicles, but is also widely known in the Latin cuisine space for his knowledge on traditional Mexican food.
Cabral created cocktails along with Brand Ambassador “ET” that celebrate Latinos in media. The brand hosted a dinner for media in LA and Chicago to celebrate their hard work for telling our community’s stories.
Ni de Aquí, Ni de Allá – Cactus Cocktail
To celebrate the biculturalism of the many Latinos living in the United States, this cocktail celebrates being Latino in the U.S. but never forgetting one’s roots – fusing together Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey and one of Javier’s favorite fruits highly regarded in Mexican cuisine, tuna (or otherwise known as prickly pear).
- 1 ½ oz Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey
- 1 ½ oz Mexican Coke
- ¾ oz House Made Cactus Fruit Syrup
- ¾ oz Fresh Lemon Juice
- ¼ oz Senior Curacao Mandarin Liqueur
Shake all but soda. Add soda. Strain into a Collins glass half rimmed with Tajin.
Garnish – lemon twist and cherry.
El Sol Sale Para Todos AKA “El Anti-Hater” – Cucumber Cocktail
‘El Sol Sale Para Todos’ speaks to a sense of community – that there’s enough to go around for everyone, promoting unity within the culture and within the community at large. It also speaks to a sense of paying it forward, helping other Latinos trying to get recognized for their work in whatever industry that might be.
- 1 ½ JackDaniel’s Tennessee Whiskey
- ¾ oz fresh lemon juice
- ½ oz Mango Puree
- ¼ oz Simple Syrup
- 1 ½ oz Mexican Coke
- 2 Slice Cucumber
Shake all but Coke. Add Coke. Strain into a Collins Glass. Float brandy. Pinch of salt.
Garnish – dried mango with chili.
¡Pocos Pero Locos! – Frozen Cocktail
‘Pocos Pero Locos’ honors our small but mighty industry as Latino journalists and influencers. As the Latino population continues to grow in the U.S., there is still a small amount of us Latinos working in media, but that’s not to say that their voices aren’t powerful.

- ½ oz Coca-Cola Syrup
- ½ oz Tamarind Syrup
- 2 oz Pineapple Juice
- ½ oz Coco Real
- ⅓ Ripe Banana
Add all to blender with 16 oz ice. Blend until smooth.
Garnish – edible flower, or cherry and possibly a chamoy straw.
El Glutster – Guava Old Fashioned
The classic Old Fashioned cocktail is a drink that has earned a certain type of street cred in the industry. This is a tribute to the hard work and dedication that all Latino storytellers go through to earn the street cred that they deserve.
- 2 oz Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey
- ¼ oz Guava Concentrate
- ½ oz Mexican Coke Syrup
- 2 dashes Jack Daniel’s Cocktail Bitters
