Absolut ELYX Raises Awareness of Global Water Crisis

To raise awareness of the global water crisis and plight of local communities without access to clean, safe water in developing countries, Absolut Elyx CEO Jonas Tahlin (pictured above) and Director of Communications Tom Roberts took matters into their hands. For a week in September they walked four miles carrying five gallons of water, to understand what millions of people do every day of their lives in impoverished nations around the world. This further demonstrates the company’s solid commitment to make a difference; a mission that includes a groundbreaking five-year partnership with Water For People
The Absolut Elyx team took on the walk for water challenge in New York and Los Angeles. Tahlin started at the Elyx House, at 6 p.m. on the first day, then continued the walk in Los Angeles. Roberts walked in Dumbo, Brooklyn, on the first day and continued at Berry & North 8th Street, Brooklyn, at 7 p.m for the duration of the week.
Absolut Elyx and Water For People announced a five-year partnership to bring access to safe water to more than 100,000 people worldwide. For every bottle of vodka sold, Elyx will provide access to one week of safe water (140 liters) to someone in need through Water For People’s work. For every copper pineapple drinking vessel sold, access to one month of water (560 liters) will be provided.
In addition to help support the launch, a cadre of Hollywood’s A-list celebrities came to together for a unique but playful video with purpose. Directed by SNL alum and Portlandia creator, Fred Armisen and produced by Orange is the New Black star Natasha Lyonne, the video features actors Miles Teller, Chloe Sevigny, Taylor Kitsch, Tracee Ellis Ross, Paul Scheer, comedian George Wallace and musician Aimee Mann all engaging in a “casting call” for a commercial for the campaign.
