Former All-Star NY Met and Yankee player Darryl Strawberry will do an exclusive live chat with new company Monument on Thursday, November 19. The baseball great will share insight into his career and overcoming his many challenges.
Monument is a first-of-its-kind online treatment platform for those looking to change their relationship with alcohol. Inaugurated with Rumer Willis as the first guest, chef Andrew Zimmern and others have been featured in the exclusive speaker series to discuss their stories of sobriety and how they changed their lives because of alcohol. Featuring an exclusive celebrity line-up, this live talk series covers personal stories from world-renowned actors, athletes, chefs, and reality stars talking to members about their history with alcohol use.
With a mission to connect people seeking medical treatment to expert resources, a supportive community and affordable medical care, Monument has more than 10,000+ members on its network since its inception in May, 2020. Founded by seasoned tech entrepreneur Mike Russell after his own personal journey with alcohol, Monument ensures each member is given a personalized treatment plan, unique to their goals. The innovative new company is backed by leading health experts, including former Medicaid Chief Medical Officer, Dr Andrey Ostrovsky.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Darryl Strawberry was one of the most feared sluggers in the game, well-known for both his play on the baseball field and his controversial behavior off it. During his 17-year career, he helped lead the New York Mets to one World Series championship and the New York Yankees to three World Series championships. He was voted to the All-Star Game eight straight times from 1984 to 1991.
Strawberry will speak with members about his personal journey with alcohol. “I’m honored to participate in Monument Live and share my story with those who might need some encouragement to change their drinking. Drugs and alcohol were an all-consuming force in my life for so long, and if I can motivate someone to make the choice to commit to a healthier life, a choice that has rewarded me in so many ways, that would mean the world to me. I think what Monument is doing can break down barriers to support for a lot of people, which is more important than ever.”
