The Virtual ZERO Prostate Cancer Summit offers an engaging and informative programming lineup for the more than 3.1 million men and families nationwide battling prostate cancer. The event is free and open to the public from February 28 through March 4. More than 1,500 attendees have registered so far.

Due to COVID-19, the Summit converted to a virtual format after two decades of in-person gatherings in the D.C. area. This year’s five-day program is packed with some of the most inspiring voices in the prostate cancer community including Cal Ripken, Jr., MLB Hall of Famer, who will share his inspiring survivorship story on behalf of ExosomeDx. Keynote speaker, Dr. Mark Moyad, returns by popular demand to share the latest news on cancer wellness and how COVID-19 impacts cancer patients. Also returning to much fanfare, Dr. Stacy Loeb, will bring attention to the common “fake news” attributed to prostate cancer information.

Other topics of note include health equity in prostate cancer, which will be addressed by Dr. Kelvin Moses, Dr. Arturo Holmes, and other members of ZERO’s newly formed Prostate Cancer Racial DisparitiesTask Force. Sexual health and side effects will be discussed by Dr. Rachel Rubin while Dr. Nima Sharifi will give an update on precision medicine. More expert speakers and a full agenda can be viewed here.

ZERO’s Bold for Blue Awards help kick off the Summit on Feb. 28, when dedicated heroes in the fight against prostate cancer will be honored. Attendees who register and download the free ZERO Summit app have access to bonus features, including community happy hours, a virtual health fair, and the opportunity to give back.

“Each year, the Summit amplifies prostate cancer knowledge, promotes advocacy, and continues to build our amazing community on the local, regional, and national level,” said Jamie Bearse, ZERO CEO. “Given the current environment, it is more critical than ever to bring everyone together to get much-needed support and education from the safety of their homes.”

Notably, the Summit has made a remarkable impact in catalyzing the Prostate Cancer Research Program and its subsequent treatment developments and diagnostics over the last two decades. Even in the virtual setting, the critical advocacy work of the Summit will continue.

“Our advocacy efforts at the Summit make it clear that the prostate cancer community has placed importance on increasing channels of communications with their elected officials,” said Alison Manson, ZERO’s Vice President of Government Relations and Advocacy. “The patients, caregivers, and survivors who will visit virtually with their representatives in the next weeks will help to shift narratives, reduce stigma, and educate and advocate for others. The many individuals who raise their voices at Summit help create research paths for the next generation of patients and will hopefully play a hand in ending this disease once and for all.”
