The Pueblo Vantage San Miguel de Allende is the perfect gateway to enjoy the charming colonial-era city in Mexico’s central highlands, 175 miles northwest of Mexico City. The property—Pueblo Bonito’s first urban, European Plan hotel—also offers a compelling reason to stay indoors: Aromatika Spa & Wellness.
The spa and wellness center, located on the courtyard level adjoining a botanical garden, is being described as a “sanctuary of wellness” where guests can embark on a journey of self-discovery and transformation close to the UNESCO-designated World Heritage Site known for its 17th- and 18th-century architecture, cobblestone streets and dynamic food scene. The Pueblo Bonito Vantage San Miguel de Allende opens on February 15, 2025.
“Aromatika Spa & Wellness will give guests an experience of refined renewal, allowing them to discover a multi-sensory world designed to please the senses and restore physical, mental and spiritual balance while enjoying the exclusive ambiance of San Miguel de Allende,” said Diana F. Mestre, an award-winning spa consultant from Mexico City who designed the facility with consultant Paulina Mercader and Pueblo Bonito Vantage general manager Lucy Ruiz.
The name “Aromatika” honors the scents of San Miguel, notably lavender, rosemary, mint, fennel and sage, “as well as the subtle scents of wine-based therapies and exclusive skin care products” used at the spa, explained Mestre.
Four pillars of well-being form the foundation for the spa’s innovative techniques and therapies:
- Heal. Strengthening the respiratory, lymphatic and endocrine systems to help the body regain its natural balance and ability to heal.
- Flow. Promoting the fluidity in all aspects of life, from blood circulation to the flow of positive thoughts, through the connection to water.
- Reset. Relieving stress and accumulated tension with mental and physical rest techniques.
- Reborn. Renewing and transforming through self-care, self-reflection and the art of enjoying the good life.
Mestre said several factors will set Aromatika Spa & Wellness apart from all other feel-good facilities.
“For starters, Pueblo Bonito Vantage is embedded in the history and culture of San Miguel de Allende,” she said. “The architecture and interior design of both the hotel and the spa are an elegant take on colonial style.”
On another note, the state of Guanajuato has emerged as one of Mexico’s leading wine regions, and Aromatika Spa has tapped into it. Wine therapies take advantage of the beneficial properties of wine grape derivatives in treatments and rituals to give the skin a healthier improved physical appearance. The high resveratrol content of red grapes acts as a powerful antioxidant with properties that increase collagen production, allow skin regeneration and help to reduce skin irritation and blemishes.
Mestre noted that in addition to an exclusive Natural Wine Skin Care line created by Natural Benefits, Aromatika Spa will carry the renowned Italian skin care facial line by Vagheggi, which uses natural active ingredients in its products.
Other key spa elements include a Biohacking Center, a new-age approach to organically promote the correct function of the body’s systems; the Aromatika Boutique Atelier, an interactive space dedicated to personalizing the guest experience with oils and scrubs from its apothecary; special workshops and classes; and a fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment and professional fitness trainers who can design personalized workouts, yoga and stretching regimes, and pranayama breathing sessions.
For guests who desire a completely immersive wellness experience, the hotel will offer custom-designed Wellness Suites that feature:
- Total darkness
- Additional noise insulation
- Bamboo linens (sheets, pillowcases, duvet)
- Sleep mask
- Various books related to health and wellness
- Plants that absorb electromagnetic waves
- A wellness breakfast delivered daily

As an added measure, the Wellness Suites do not have televisions.
