Ballet Hispanico Makes National Theatrical Debut

Recognized as America’s leading Latino dance company since 1970, Ballet Hispanico is premiering for one night only on November 12th in movie theaters across the country two audience favorites, “Carmen” and “Club Havana.”  This is part of the new cinema series “Lincoln Center at the Movies: Great American Dance” which brings spectacular dance performances by America’s leading dance companies to more than 600 movie theaters throughout the country. The groundbreaking new film series is hosted by Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan.

Ballet Hispanico explores, preserves, and celebrates Latino cultures through dance. Their works explore the diversity of Latino culture through a fusion of classical, Latin, and contemporary dance powered by theatricality, athleticism, and passion. Ballet Hispanico’s “Carmen” is an electrifying contemporary take on Bizet’s passionate opera and choreographed by Spaniard Gustavo Ramírez Sansano. “Club Havana” is a virtuosic re-imagining of a sizzling nightclub by Cuban-born choreographer Pedro Ruiz.

“Lincoln Center at the Movies: Great American Dance” is presented by Emmy award winning Executive Producer Andrew C. Wilk, with each film to include extra features including interviews with the principal dancers, exclusive behind the scenes footage and informative segments that will provide an inside look at their exquisite productions.
