With National Mezcal Day approaching quickly on October 21st, you can start planning your celebrations with with Contraluz.

Recently launched, Contraluz boasts a new-to-market filtration process using activated charcoal to produce a colorless, smooth flavor profile without compromising mezcal’s signature smokey taste.

As the first luxury-focused, ultra-premium mezcal, Contraluz introduces a balanced taste of cooked agave, vanilla and cacao with notes of green agave, citrus, and drive fruits – made to enjoy neat or in cocktail form. Here are two of our favorite recipes below that are perfect for any occasion.

Mezcal con Tonika

A classic and simple prep “Highball” with a revitalizing touch from the grapefruit juice makes this cocktail rich and flavorful.

Ingredients:
2 oz Contraluz
1 oz Grapefruit Juice
4 oz Tonic Water

Preparation:
In a Collins glass, mix Contraluz and grapefruit juice. Top it off with tonic water. Garnish with a grapefruit or dehydrated orange slice.

Illuminated Martini
Elegant and floral, our Illuminated Martini combines Contraluz with two types of Vermouths – bringing a nutty and savory flavor into this spirit-forwarded cocktail.

Ingredients:
2 oz Contraluz
1 oz Cocchi Americano
Bar spoon of Dolin Blanc Vermouth

Preparation:
In a mixing glass, add Contraluz Mezcal, dry Vermouth, a bar spoon of Dolin Blanc and ice. Mix and train into a chilled martini glass. Express lemon oils and garnish with a lemon peel.

Starlight: Contraluz Neat
By adding uchuvas or starfruit, we are highlighting the savory components of these tropical fruits, creating a perfect pairing with Contraluz – a balance between the fruits’ bright acidity and the floral notes from our mezcal.

Ingredients:
2 oz Contraluz

Preparation:
Served at room temperature or chilled. Garnished with a tropical fruit slice such as star fruit, uchuva or dragon fruit
