Nabys Vielman, one of Venezuela’s top fashion designers, will present his fashion line and new designs inspired by the 30th Anniversary of the Latino Commission on AIDS at its annual Cielo Gala on Friday, October 30th, 2020 at Cipriani Wall Street. The Latino Commission on AIDS will commemorate 30 years of working to fight HIV/AIDS and advancing the health and well being of the Hispanic/Latinx community amidst the global pandemic. Originally scheduled for June 5th, the Cielo gala was postponed due to the current COVID-19 pandemic that has swept much of the world.

“We are thrilled to have the participation of Nabys Vielman as the featured designer at our twenty-fifth annual gala celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Latino Commission on AIDS,” said Guillermo Chacon, president of the Commission. “This is a very special event for our organization and I know that his passion and creative contributions will add vibrancy to our gala.”

Vielman started his career in the late eighties. He founded his first boutique in Venezuela in the 90’s and went on to develop a brand that produced successful ready to wear collections. Vielman’s creations are inspired by minimalist concepts, expressed by geometries and kinetic art and focusing on the garments’ cuts and noble fabrics. Nabys Vielman’s fashion proposal is based on functionality, comfort, and sophistication, coated with style and innovative forms. Moreover, a synergy between art and fashion has created unforgettable architectural pieces throughout his career.

“I am excited and honored to be presenting my collection at this year’s Cielo Gala,” said Vielman. “My passion for helping others is in sync with the Commission and I am grateful that I can lend my talents to such a great cause.”

As the largest annual fundraiser in response to the impact of the HIV/AIDS epidemic on the Hispanic/Latinx community for the past 25 years, the Cielo Gala is an important platform to applaud the work of those who support the Commission’s goals of ending AIDS and improving overall health outcomes for the community. Inspired by the theme for the event of Designing a World Without AIDS and the 30th anniversary of the Commission, Mr. Vielman will create several new pieces that will be presented for the first time at the Cielo gala. His work will also be featured in the silent auction and in a special collaboration with the Commission where a portion of the proceeds from the sale of any of his work from September 1, 2020 through the end of the year will be donated to the Commission.

Since 1996, the Latino Commission on AIDS has gathered artists, musicians, fashion designers, business leaders, public officials, and health care professionals at Cielo to raise funds for programs and services, to reduce stigma, to improve the future of those living with and affected by HIV and AIDS, and to protect the health of the Hispanic/Latinx community.
