In the 1920’s René Lacoste heralded the birth of contemporary sportswear with his design for the original L.12.12 Polo shirt. Now in 2015, the EAU DE LACOSTE L.12.12 fragrance collection, inspired by the iconic menswear garment, unveils a new experience. Available in March, in time for spring, LACOSTE presents a new olfactory shade: the sunny cheerful EAU DE LACOSTE L.12.12 Jaune, expressing positive energy, buoyant, radiant, fizzing with joie de vivre.

EAU DE LACOSTE L.12.12 Jaune is an aromatic, fruity fragrance. In the scent inspired by this concoction, grapefruit, pink peppercorn and an effervescent tonic accord give way to sweet, Golden Delicious apple blended with coriander seeds, on a balmy cypress, vetiver and amber base. Beneath the surface bravura, these base notes are spicy. This is an optimistic, invigorating creation.

Designed by René Lacoste himself and appearing in the 1920’s, the LACOSTE L.12.12 polo shirt, with its unique, breathable piqué fabric, soft collar, ‘tennis tail’ and legendary Crocodile logo, heralded the birth of contemporary sportswear, becoming as popular off court as it was on.

L.12.12, L for LACOSTE, 1 for its unique fabric (petit piqué), 2 for the short-sleeved design and 12 for the number of the version finally selected by René Lacoste.

The fragrance is housed in an opaque glass flacon designed to echo the timeless simplicity and understated sophistication of the polo shirt itself. The sleek, minimalistic silhouette is enhanced by a charming petit piqué-inspired mesh effect running down the sides of the flacon; and, as with the shirt, adorned with an authentic embroidered fabric logo.

EAU DE LACOSTE L.12.12 Jaune goes on sale in March 2015. Other additions to the EAU DE LACOSTE L.12.12 fragrance line are Blanc, Bleu, Rouge, and Noir. All will be available at Sephora and Sephora.com for at $45 (50ml) and $69 (100ml).
