Two of this year’s most coveted VIN 001 vehicles, the first 2021 Ford Bronco 2-door First Edition (Lot #3008) and 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 (Lot #3005), galloped over the Barrett-Jackson Auction block in Scottsdale and raised $1,575,000 for charity on March 26 and 27.

One-hundred percent of the $1,075,000 hammer price from the Ford Bronco two-door First Edition benefits National Forest Foundation and Outward Bound, which are part of Ford’s Bronco Wild Fund mission to connect people to the outdoors. The sale price of $500,000 for the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 benefits JDRF’s efforts against type 1 diabetes.

“Two of Ford’s most iconic vehicles, the Ford Bronco and the Mustang Mach 1, were reborn for 2021 in response to great public demand,” said Dave Pericak, Director Enterprise Product Line Management – Ford Icons. “To celebrate their return, we donated the coveted VIN 001 of each to raise money for key non-profit organizations. Bidding was fierce for these vehicles because it was a rare opportunity for public to own a very special Ford and help charities that have a lasting impact on society. We are very pleased that Ford Motor Company helped raise $1,575,000 for these worthy causes.”

To date, the long-standing relationship between Ford and Barrett-Jackson has raised more than $13,458,000 over 15 years for charities.

Bronco brand, Ford’s new outdoor brand of only Built Wild 4×4 SUVs is proud to support the charity auction efforts with its all-new 2021 Bronco two-door First Edition (VIN 001 pictured above).

The 2021 Bronco First Edition is the pinnacle of Built Wild capability, durability and innovative design across the Bronco two-door and Bronco four-door lineup. This limited-edition series takes the best of the Bronco lineup, featuring Badlands series mechanicals, Outer Banks series interior appointments and rugged Wildtrak series exterior features. It also adds all the best adventure-ready appointments:

  • First Edition hood and bodyside graphics
  • First Edition-exclusive Lightning Blue exterior paint
  • Lux Package
  • Sasquatch Package
  • Hard top
  • Safari bar
  • Unique interior with carpeted flooring
  • Leather-trimmed seats with heated front row and 10-way power driver’s seat

As part of the new brand’s efforts to support the responsible enjoyment and preservation of the great American outdoors, it created the Bronco Wild Fund. The first two nonprofits to reach those objectives and to be 100 percent supported by the auction proceeds are the National Forest Foundation, which will receive support to help with its reforestation of America’s national forests, and Outward Bound USA, which will receive funds to provide access for young people to learn and grow through outdoor experiences in some of our country’s great wilderness spaces.

A special endowment will be funded by a portion of the proceeds from Bronco® two-door, four-door and Bronco Sport SUV sales, as well as Ford licensed merchandise. The fund’s goal is to raise up to $5 million annually. To learn more about the Bronco Wild Fund, go to www.broncowildfund.com.

While the vehicle crossing the auction block represented the sixth-generation Bronco two-door First Edition that the winning bidder will receive, the actual vehicle will be provided this summer.

Mustang Mach 1

After a 17-year hiatus, the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 VIN 001 (Lot #3005) returned as the modern pinnacle of style, handling and V8 pony car performance. This limited-edition Mach 1 features a 480-horsepower engine mated to a unique six-speed manual Tremec transmission and the track-ready Handling Package. Clad in Fighter Jet Gray, which is exclusive to the Mustang Mach 1, the exterior features a new front fascia, exclusive wheels, orange accents and special edition badges that celebrate its 50-plus year heritage.

The Mustang was sold at No Reserve on Friday evening (March 26); the winning bidder was able to take it home once the auction week concluded. One-hundred percent of the $500,000 hammer price will benefit JDRF. This sale adds to the $70 million that Ford has raised during a 35-year partnership with the charity, to research cures for kids with diabetes.
