Gentlemen’s Tea At The Lowell Hotel

The Pembroke Room at The Lowell has launched its Gentlemen’s Tea, a service which combines the pleasure of afternoon tea with a tasting of whiskey or port, all enjoyed as they were meant to be, leisurely and thoughtfully. A unique twist on the traditional tea service, this growing London trend has now made its way stateside.
This will appeal to those with a love of tea, but less with a sweet tooth. Indulge in one of the suggested teas from Damman Fréres– Assam Doomni T.G.F.O.P, Lapsang Souchong or Vanille, accompanied by your choice from a carefully selected list of whiskeys and ports. Savor the curated Fall sandwiches and sweets which includes selections to complement featured beverages.
This service is available at The Pembroke Room now through November 10, 2019 and served Wednesday – Sunday 2:00pm – 6:00pm.
· Tea Selection & Appropriate Pairing
*Assam Doomni T.G.F.O.P – An Indian black tea with a slightly tobacco nose with an aromatic liquor with malty and slightly caramelized notes with creamy finish
Paired with Angel’s Envy Rye – Clear, amber color with aromas of citrus, caramel candy, maple sugar, vanilla, oak, hazelnut, spice and sherry wood. Sweet rum and soft oak palate with a sweet and dry finish
or Harvey’s Bristol Cream Sherry – Deep gold and amber tones with a sweet and nutty nose of apples, raisins and hints of toffee. Flavors of sweet raisin, prunes and caramel
*Lapsang Souchong – A Chinese smoky black tea which becomes milder and more delicate after infusion with a smoked wood flavor
Paired with Ardbeg Single Malt Scotch – Light gold in color with a seductive nose of toffee, chocolate and cinnamon. Flavors of peat, espresso coffee and licorice with a long and smoky finish
or (Sandeman Port 2016) Ruby Port – A dark, opaque port with notes of black fruit and cocoa. A vibrant, fresh acidity with high quality tannins with hints of rose, black fruit and chocolate
* Vanille – A black tea which is smooth and slightly sweet with biscuity notes
Paired with Angel’s Envy Bourbon – Gold and amber in color with a nose of Maple syrup, vanilla, toasted nuts and spices. Palate of smoky undertones with hints of ripe fruit, chocolate, creamy vanilla, and candied tangerine. Clean and silky finish
or (Sandeman 30 Year) Tawny Port – Clear red amber in color with creamy flavors of butterscotch, white chocolate and café au lait. Fresh finish with notes of sea salt
A take home Tasting Note card will be presented with pairings

* Mid-tier: Sweets selection – Seasonal éclair, Chocolate Crunch, Carrot Cake
* Bottom-tier: Sandwich selection – Lobster Roll, Turkey Sandwich, Foie Gras with Truffle and Fig Jam, Roast Beef Sandwich, Cucumber Sandwich
Scone service: to include savory scallion scone in addition to classic scones, accompanied with Cumberland Sauce.
Cumberland Sauce is a fruit sauce containing flavors of orange, lemon and red currant.
