2015 marks 250 years since the founding of Maison Hennessy in Cognac, France. In recognition of this auspicious moment in history, Hennessy is launching a series of worldwide events to celebrate the occasion. The Hennessy 250 Tour is a multifaceted event that brings together centuries of heritage with contemporary art that evokes the Maison’s legacy and expertise — a mix of traveling exhibition and cultural festival that will visit 4 continents, including New York City’s Lincoln Center. The world’s most preferred Cognac has also created a singular Collector’s Edition Blend.
Counterpart to the 250 Tour is the release of The Hennessy 250 Collector’s Blend — a unique anniversary creation, born of select aging in 250 specially constructed casks; a blend crafted to illustrate the enduring pursuit of perfection in cognac.
The Hennessy 250 Collector’s Blend is a tribute from the present Master Blender Yann Fillioux to his predecessors and marks the crowning achievement of his illustrious 50-year career. With only 250 barrels (250 liters each) available worldwide, the rare offering represents the very best in craftsmanship. The Hennessy 250 Collector Blend is housed in a commemorative 1L bottle, with a suggested retail price of $600.
The Blend’s Tasting Notes offer a Color distinguished by a bright, warm shade of amber.
A Nose that’s rich and expressive, developing complex aromatic tones that are spicy, including bitter orange, freshly grated nutmeg, licorice, dried peppermint leaf and delicate saffron.
And a Palate that is solid yet elegant structure, the full power of this special blend unfolds on the palate with a wonderful persistence highlighted by nuances of spicy complexity.
The Hennessy 250 Collector Blend will be available starting April 15 at select wine and spirits shops as well as through http://www.hennessy.com/us/
Bernard Peillon, Chairman and CEO of Hennessy, best sums up the spirit of the 250th Anniversary celebrations, “Ever since Richard Hennessy founded the Maison in 1765, and throughout the seven generations that followed, Hennessy has forged its reputation by always looking forward, by being engaged with and passionate about the avant-garde, by cultivating deep ties with faraway countries and cultures and by thinking globally before that notion was invented.”
The 250 Tour and celebrations are also an opportunity for enthusiasts to take part in the Hennessy legacy via the Time Barrel, a global digital installation that invites visitors to leave a mark on the future by sharing digital messages to be shared with the world.
