As part of MEXAM Northwest Festival 2025, the City of Seattle and the Consulate of Mexico in Seattle, in collaboration with the City of Seattle’s One Seattle Graffiti Plan Initiative, present the MEXART Mural Project. This groundbreaking initiative will feature ten acclaimed Mexican and Mexican-American artists from the Pacific Northwest, transforming Seattle’s cultural landscape through vibrant public art exploring themes of migration and belonging.

The MEXART Mural Project affirms cultural presence and joy, moving beyond narratives of struggle to celebrate resilience and identity. Each artist brings their own powerful story of immigration, heritage, and resilience, responding to thoughtful prompts about identity, belonging, and what it means to show strength without relying on suffering. This collaboration demonstrates the power of public art to create mirrors and landmarks for underrepresented communities, with murals serving as a two-year testament to the diverse stories that shape Seattle’s identity.

“For the Consulate of Mexico in Seattle, it is an honor to support MEXART 2025, one of our flagship projects for our annual MEXAM NW Festival, a timely project that transforms public space in Seattle into a canvas of memory, enrichment and hope. These works of art celebrate the voices of Mexican and Mexican-American artists while inviting all communities to reflect on the shared journeys that shape our region. In amplifying creativity, heritage, and dialogue, we reaffirm our commitment to culture as a bridge that unites and inspires. These murals rise as windows that open toward community and belonging.” – Héctor Godoy Priske, Head Consul of Mexico in Seattle

“Art is a vital thread in the rich fabric that makes Seattle stronger. At a time when Mexican Americans are confronted with fear and harmful messages about their culture and contributions, Seattle Parks and Recreation is honored to support MEXART 2025 as part of this year’s MEXAM NW Festival. By uplifting Latino art and culture, we strengthen community and create vibrancy across our city. This year’s themes of migration and belonging compliment the core values of our city parks: to provide safe, welcoming spaces where everyone can see themselves and learn from one another. By highlighting diversity and supporting local artists, we cultivate spaces that inspire connection, foster belonging, and build community – places and spaces where #SeattleShines” – AP Diaz – Superintendent Seattle Parks and Recreation
