Ovation‘s new, highly anticipated TV series “Versailles” has finally arrived to US television screens. Created and executive produced by Simon Mirren and David Wolstencroft, the critically-acclaimed series scored record breaking ratings on the BBC, and France’s Canal Plus.
The 10 episode series is set in France during the reign of Louis XIV and follows the rise of the King as he builds the Chateau de Versailles as the center of power in 17th Century France. The show is a historical scripted drama that follows events that are embedded in French history.
At 28, King Louis XIV of France commissions Versailles, the most beautiful palace in Europe, which serves as the King’s gilded prison – keeping his friends close and enemies closer. Enter a world of untold wealth, power, and passion. Where love and lust are just a heartbeat away from deceit and betrayal. The show presents Versailles in all its brutal glory.
Cast and crew recently joined Helen Mirren and Billy Zane in New York to celebrate the series’ U.S. premiere.
