NFL Hall of Famer, actor, author, and television personality Michael Strahan continues to take on new challenges as he expands his reach onto another milieu. His latest endeavor is a fashion line, sold exclusively at JCPenney. As he says, “You can never be too busy.” The former New York Giants defensive end has stints on “Fox NFL Sunday,” “Good Morning America” and can be seen daily on the syndicated “Live! with Kelly and Michael.” This past summer he appeared on “Magic Mike XXL” and released the bestselling book “Wake Up Happy.” We spoke with the busy multi-hyphenate to discover all about his new take on fashion.

Collection by Michael Strahan is a stylish line, constructed with quality fabrics, that offers a tailored assortment of sports coats, trousers, suits, dress shirts, ties, belts, and accessories (tie clips, cuff links). This is the first new menswear offering at JCPenney in years and signifies a solid entry for the fashionable male consumer. It’s also Strahan’s first apparel line, inspired by his personal style and experiences as one of America’s most recognizable media personalities.

Strahan was directly involved and collaborated with the design teams to select styles, patterns, fabrics and all the elements of a line that carries his name. The Collection targets a young, affluent demographic and, as expected, also includes Big & Tall sizes with sizes up to 60. With moderate pricing, the line will be sold in more than 200 locations in a dedicated space at The Men’s Store at JCPenney. and online.

HOMBRE: What made you enter into this partnership with JCPenney?
Michael Strahan: They have always made fashionable, stylish clothing, but most important, affordable clothing. I thought that was very important to make things people can actually afford and that are fashion-forward. I’m glad that we’re partners.

H: Was affordability a factor in the collaboration? 
MS: Absolutely. The fact that it is affordable is important to me. I want to make sure we give people great suits at a price point they can afford.

H: How would you describe your style?
MS:I like to be classic, but have a modern, tailored, stylish take on things. It was very important to have something that I would actually wear. That’s very important to me, and quality is also important. It’s one thing to look good, and it’s another thing to be made well.

H: Will you wear your collection on the the programs you appear on?
MS: Yes, as often as I can. It has my name on it. This is truly me. This is not something that’s done where somebody came in and picked it out and I just sat back. It’s something I’m passionate about and have been for a long time. You have to be proud of your work, and I’m very proud of this.
