The world of tequila has a new entry with the introduction of Hornitos Black Barrel, a spirit that redefines the premium tequila experience. This is a super smooth, 100% agave tequila, uniquely tripled aged to exude distinct and complex whiskey notes. There you have it Tequila & Whiskey: the best of both worlds!

To achieve its unique flavor the 100% Hornitos Tequila is aged in traditional American Oak barrels for 12 months. Once the soft, smooth, complex flavor of the Añejo tequila has been achieved, the liquid is placed in deeply charred American Oak barrels for four months to ensure that the tequila breathes through the caramelized layer of sugar, imparting the rich character, golden amber color and smoky notes traditionally found in whiskey. Lastly, the tequila is aged in specially-toasted American Oak barrels for two months to impart a creamier, vanilla character to add depth and complexity to the final spirit.

TASTING NOTES
Blend: 100% blue agave tequila aged in American Oak barrels

Color: Golden amber

Aroma: Oaky-vanilla notes, with a peppery spiciness

Body: Full body with a mild finish

Taste: Smoky and slight cooperage notes; smooth, sweet agave and vanilla character

Finish: Clean flavor finish with a slightly lingering tingle sensation
Proof: 80

HORNITOS BLACK BARREL COCKTAILS

The Neruda
2 parts Hornitos Black Barrel
1 part sweet vermouth
Dash of house bitters
Candied habañero
Lemon

Preparation:
Combine all ingredients into a mixing glass, stir and serve over ice with a lemon twist and garnish with candied habañero. Serve in a rocks glass.

La Bamba
2 parts Hornitos Black Barrel
½ part lime juice
½ part agave
½ part chili liqueur (or dash of hot sauce)
Ginger beer

Preparation:
Combine all ingredients into a mixing glass (except ginger beer), add ice and shake vigorously. Pour over ice and top with ginger beer. Serve in a coupe glass.

Cherry Valance
1 ½ parts Hornitos Black Barrel
½ part Applejack
½ part fresh lemon juice
⅓ part pomegranate syrup
Egg white

Preparation:
Combine all ingredients into a mixing glass, add ice and shake extremely vigorously until egg whites are mixed well.
Serve in a highball glass.
