With temperatures cooling down but not yet uncomfortably cold, there’s still time to throw the top down by day and catch the beauty of the changing seasons, all from the comfort of an amazing roadster. Here we bring you two of our best options to say goodbye Summer, hello Fall: the 2014 Mazda MX-5 Power Retractable Hardtop and the 2014 Infiniti Q60 Convertible.
2014 Mazda MX-5 Power Retractable Hardtop
Base: $30,550 / Loaded $32,700
Power: 2.0 liter, 158 horsepower engine with 140 lb-ft of torque
Fuel economy: 23 mpg combined (21 city / 28 highway)
Annual fuel: $2,350
This is it for the current generation MX-5, which has stood the test to remain the best selling, two seat convertible sports car in history. And with model year 2015 on sale and looking pretty much the same, model year 2016 prepares to showcase an all-new design replacing what began in 1989, before moving on to a second generation in 1999 and a third in 2006.
Improvements most noticeable throughout Miata’s history include a power hard top with much better sound insulation, for far less cabin noise over the soft top. Being a lightweight roadster, it’s always been a fun to maneuver, fun to drive—basic fun car for two.

2014 Infiniti Q60 Convertible
Base: $47,900 / Loaded $56,500
Power: 3.7 liter, 325 horsepower, 267 lb-ft of torque
Fuel economy: 20 mpg combined (18 city / 26 highway)
Annual fuel: $2,800
When all the fun is said and done and it’s power, personal space and overall luxury that you desire in your daily pursuits–coupled with a back seat advantage, the Q60 might just be the step it’s time for you to take.
A classic in terms of its 2009 original body design, the now Q60 (formerly G37) offers a solid, powerful ride with the modern day creature comforts that for many are perceived as standards. A 7-inch screen for navigation, intelligent cruise control that senses traffic and adjusts vehicle speed accordingly, and a set of 19-inch rims for show—might just be a few! And with the fully automatic top down, music can be a far more personal experience courtesy of the Bose Open Air Sound System’s 13-speakers, one of which is mounted on each front passenger headrest. Worthy of further celebration is the fact that the speakers are so harmoniously tuned that regardless of what volume you choose, the likelihood of an ear piercing experience is rare to never.
Model year 2015 brings much of the same for Q60, leaving to the imagination what changes may take place in the subsequent years to come. Until then, Infiniti obviously feels that there’s no need to mess with a good thing.
