Looking for something different in a New York night of entertainment?
Check out La Soirée at the Union Square Theatre; a fun, exciting, naughty and irreverent experience that defies description.
The show brings you some of the elements you may find in a modern day vaudeville show complete with contortionists, blue humor, jugglers, singers and ‘magician’ who may make more disappear than you expect. There’s even flamenco and Spanish spoken by a guitar player from ‘Spain’ who seems to have taken charm lessons from Don Rickles on how to treat an audience. Don’t be surprised by profanity and maybe even a little bit of nudity.
La Soirée has played to audiences around the world including Paris, Sydney, Stockholm and London. It’s funny, sexy, and daring; combining elements of cabaret, stand up and variety.
The show previously played in New York in 2006, with the title of Absinthe: Les Artistes de La Clique . Subsequent versions of Absinthe shows were inspired by the original production, but did not have the same creative and production team.
The show makes for a fun, relaxed experience with red velvet lounges, tables, bar service and comfortable seating while having a beer or some wine. Be ready to participate. This is not a video game or cable show you’re watching. You may be called to come up on stage, get a little wet or physically interact with the performers as they wonder around the floor. Musically you will be treated to hits from Freddie Mercury to Henry Mancini, to Puccini to Sinatra.
La Soirée is now playing in a limited run at Union Square Theatre ( 100 East 17th Street )
