Winter is here and with it comes the need for some warmer drinks. Setting aside the classic Hot Chocolate, guests of Destination Hotels – a collection of award-winning hotels and resorts in premier vacation destinations throughout the U.S. – can indulge at select properties from Oregon to San Diego with Destination’s own caramel drizzled, cinnamon spiced, and whipped-cream-topped craft cocktails.
Sunriver Resort, A Destination Hotel (Sunriver, OR) (above)
Caramel Toddy – Carson’s American Kitchen & Twisted River Tavern
- 2 tbsps. Caramel Sauce
- 1 ½ oz. Five Farms Irish Cream
- 1/2 oz. Buttershots Schnapps Liqueur
- 1 cup Hot Chocolate
- Whipped Cream
- Pinch of Sea Salt
Method: Warm the mug with hot water for approximately two minutes and pour water out. Rim the mug with Carmel sauce. Add 1 ½ ounces Five Farms Irish Cream, ½ ounce Buttershots. Pour in one cup of hot chocolate. Top with whipped cream. Drizzle with Caramel sauce and sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt.

High Alpine Wine – The Fitz Bar & Restaurant
- 1 bottle of red wine (Cabernet)
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 Star anise
- 5 cloves
- 1 tbsp. honey
- 2 oranges sliced
Method: Mix all ingredients. Steep in a crock-pot for one hour. Serve hot – Enjoy!
Wild Dunes Resort, A Destination Hotel (Isle of Palms, SC)
Charleston Coffee – Coastal Provisions
- 0.5 oz Rum
- 1.5 oz Kahlua
- Coffee, amount according to preference
- 0.5 oz Grand Marnier
- Sweet Cream, amount according to preference
- Pinch of Cinnamon
- 3 Espresso beans to garnish
Method: In a coffee glass, add 151 Rum and Grand Marnier, ignite flame & sprinkle with cinnamon to toast the spice. Layer in Kahlua and coffee. Top with sweet cream and a dash of cinnamon. Garnish with three espresso beans.

Hot Buttered Rye – Coton & Rye
- ½ oz softened butter
- 1 oz brown sugar
- ground cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, clove, ginger
- 3 oz hot water
- 1 oz Catoctin Creek Roundstone Rye whisky
Method: Mix soft butter, brown sugar and a dash of each of the spices together thoroughly. This is the batter. Add 3 oz of boiling water to your batter and stir well until a frothy top forms. Stir in your rye and garnish with nutmeg.

- 2 oz. Plantation Double Age Dark Rum
- 3 tbsps. Spice Cream
Method: Build in a coffee mug. Top with hot water, stir till cream melts, add whipped cream on top, sprinkle cinnamon powder and enjoy. **To make the spice cream you will need:
- ¾ cup sugar
- ½ teaspoon powder cinnamon
- Whole clove (muddle into powder)
- ¼ cup honey
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon allspices
- 1 cup heavy cream
Method: Blend or whip till medium texture.
