National Tequila Day Cocktails from HORNITOS

A day dedicated solely to tequila shouldn’t be taken lightly, especially for a brand as engrained in the rich history and unique innovation process such as Hornitos, which has been perfecting tequila nearly 70 years. This National Tequila Day (July 24th), the brand is taking a shot at breaking traditions and encouraging tequila fans to take a modern approach to the holiday with whiskey barrel-aged Hornitos Black Barrel Tequila neat, on the rocks and in unique twists on a Mexican favorite Paloma cocktail rather than traditional margaritas.
Basil Paloma
- 2 parts Hornitos Black Barrel Tequila
- 1 ¼ parts fresh ruby red grapefruit juice
- 1 part fresh lime juice
- ½ part simple syrup
- 1 dash Angostura bitters
- Basil sprigs
- Grapefruit slice
Preparation: Lightly muddle 2-3 basil sprigs in a shaker. Add remainder of ingredients into the shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a highball glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a basil sprig and grapefruit slice.
Spicy Paloma
- 1 ½ parts Hornitos Black Barrel Tequila
- ¾ part fresh ruby red grapefruit juice
- ¾ part fresh lime juice
- ½ part agave syrup
- Jalapeño
- Grapefruit
Preparation: Lightly muddle ¼ grapefruit and 4 slices jalapeño in a shaker. Combine remainder of ingredients into the shaker over ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a grapefruit slice.
