Quench Your Thirst On National Margarita Day With Recipes From The Caribbean & The U.S.

As National Margarita Day approaches on February 22nd we bring you exciting recipes from some of our favorite properties in the U.S., Mexico,  and the Caribbean. These cocktails are sure to quench your thirst and get you in the festive spirit.

No celebration would be complete without a taste of the classic. Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya shares their tips for the perfect classic margarita in this idyllic step-by-step, sure to transport you to the white sand beaches of Mexico. In addition, the property also offers their famous brunchy twist on the menu, The Bacon Margarita.

Bacon Margarita

  • 1 ½ oz mezcal
  • ½ oz contreau
  • ½ oz bacon syrup
  • ¼ oz lemon juice
  • ¼ oz natural syrup
  • 1 piece pineapple, for garnish
  • 1 piece bacon, for garnish
  • Coriander leaves

Shaken. Add all elements with ice, shake, and strain twice. Serve in an Old Fashion glass and garnish with a piece of grilled pineapple and bacon.

Another Caribbean icon celebrating this holiday is Atlantis Paradise Island in The Bahamas, putting a luxe twist on the margarita with their Salt Air Margarita, which is featured at Fish by José Andrés located at The Cove. See the recipe below for this tangy twist.

Salt Air Margarita

Margarita

  • .5 ounces fresh lime juice
  • 1 casa Noble ounces blanco tequila
  • Ice
  • .5 ounces Combier orange liqueur
  • .5 ounces simple syrup

Salt Air

  • 8 ounces water
  • 4 ounces fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons simple syrup

Step 1, making the Margarita. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the tequila, Combier, simple syrup and lime juice and shake well. Strain into a chilled coupe.

Step 2making the Salt Air. Combine all the ingredients for the Salt Air into a large bowl. Using an immersion blender, mix until bubbles form. Carefully spoon on top of the drink.

Skinny Rita

  • 2ounces of Tequila
  • 1.5 ounces of Lime Juice
  • 1 teaspoon of Agave Nectar
  • 1 ounce of Coconut Water
  • 1 lemon wedge for garnish
  • Kosher salt or coarsely ground sea salt for the rim

Add all elements with ice, shake, and strain twice.

The Milkman’s Bar, located inside the brand-new Dairy Market Food Hall in Charlottesville, Virginia is led by talented mixologists River Hawkins and Mike Stewart. The venue serves creative recreations of classic cocktails with whimsical, awe-inspiring presentations in a welcoming space. For National Margarita Day guests can enjoy the Milkman’s version of a reimagined Margarita with the delicious Margarita Clara.

  • 1.5 oz El Velo Tequila Blanco
  • 1 oz Clarified Lime juice
  • .5 oz Simple Syrup
  • Half a bar spoon of Australian Finger lime pulp for garnish

Shaken. Add all elements with ice, shake, and strain.
