Quick On-The-Go Meal Recipes From Michelin Star Chef

Being on the go doesn’t have to equal flavorless and boring foods. On the contrary, it’s an opportunity to enjoy a midday meal that you look forward to.
Hellmann’s recently partnered with Michelin Star Chef Juan Manuel Barrientos to inspire Hispanic families across the U.S. to use what they already have in the kitchen to Make Taste, Not Waste with flexible recipes (AKA flexitas) as part of the brand’s Hispanic Fridge Night Spanish language program.
Below are two delicious flexitas, the Sándwich a la Cubana, and Elote Salad, which make for easy and delicious lunches, featuring Hellmann’s Original Mayonnaise and Best of all, these easy recipes can save time and money, all while helping you avoid food waste.
ELOTE SALAD (above)
Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Cook Time: 10 Minutes
- BASE: Cooked or grilled corn, potatoes
- Use up your VEGETABLES & FRUIT: Lettuce, radishes, bell peppers, onions, or change it up by using scallions, cucumbers, or jalapeño!
- Add a PROTEIN: Queso fresco
Instructions: Bring it all together and then add the MAGIC TOUCH: Hellmann’s Original or Light Mayonnaise or Vinaigrette Dressing, lime juice, and cilantro
SÁNDWICH A LA CUBANA
Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Cook Time: 10 Minutes
- BASE: Cuban bread or baguette or any sandwich rolls will do!
- Use up your VEGETABLES & FRUIT: Pickles are classic but try adding other pickled vegetables or sliced cucumber or bell peppers
- Add a PROTEIN: Roast pork, ham, Swiss cheese
Instructions: Bring it all together and then add the MAGIC TOUCH: Spread inside of bread with mustard. Layer between bread the pickles, pork, ham and Swiss cheese. (Choose some Hellmann’s Original or Light Mayonnaise and spread it on the outside of bread. Grill sandwich in hot skillet on both sides until toasted and cheese is melted).
