Quintana Roo is open for business and ready to welcome you. Under the visionary leadership of Darío Flota, CEO of the Quintana Roo Tourism Board, the popular Mexican state in the Yucatan Peninsula has undergone a complete re-branding as the Mexican Caribbean.
It’s composed of  two umbrella brands Riviera Maya and Grand Costa Maya.

Riviera Maya

These two regions cover 12 destinations, among the most popular tourist locations in the world. They include Cancun, Tulum, Isla de Cozumel, Playa Del Carmen, Isla Mujeres, Bacalar, Holbox, Puerto Morelos, Chetumal, Costa Mujeres, Maya Ka’an, and Mahahual.

Cancun

Cancun and the Mexican Caribbean is the first destination in the Americas (together with Saudi Arabia, Barcelona, Portugal and Seville) to receive the Global Safety Stamp, a recognition from the World Travel & Tourism Council for destinations that adopt standards to ensure the hygiene of establishments and protect the health of travelers.

The Global Safety Stamp was launched in conjunction with the United Nations World Tourism Organization and over 200 CEOs of leading global companies in the sector. The distinction will instill confidence in travelers regarding hygiene and sanitation standards in hotels, restaurants, airlines, airports, cruises, and other tourism venues.

Cozumel

Gloria Guevara Manzo, president and CEO of WTTC, said, “we’re thrilled Cancun, as a world-class tourist destination, will be one of the first destinations to receive the Global Safety Stamp alongside Saudi Arabia, Barcelona, Portugal and Seville; each are top destinations that have upheld the stamp by implementing safe travel protocols.”

Carlos Joaquin Gonzalez, governor of the state of Quintana Roo, stated that “The Mexican Caribbean and Cancun are united in the measures developed by WTTC for the prevention and security of visitors and we are ready to reopen tourism activity. We are honored to be one of the first destinations to be recognized for our health prevention measures. Our state authorities and tourism companies have worked together to guarantee tourist confidence and safety.”

“We welcome the WTTC’s Global Safety Stamp and safe travel protocols, working together on restoring trust will be the key to success. Public and private sector collaboration is essential; we are happy to work with WTTC on post-COVID-19 recovery and value the Mexican Caribbean contribution to the UNWTO Global Crisis Committee,” said Zurab Pololikashvili, UNWTO General Secretary.

The new WTTC travel protocols were developed following the World Health Organization (WHO) and Center for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) guidelines, and in close collaboration with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the International Airports Council (ACI) and the International Cruise Line Association (CLIA) to ensure alignment across the sector.

These days there may be broad limitations on the amount of travel available to us. It’s a relief to know that the Mexican Caribbean is not only among the most beautiful destinations on earth, but with the Global Safety Stamp, also one of the safest.
If you’re ready to travel there are few locations that can provide you with the amount of culture, history, culinary delights, luxury accommodations, and superior level of service that Quintana Roo delivers.
