Mollusca, one of New York City’s top seafood destinations, is celebrating its first year anniversary beginning on April 17th. To commemorate the occasion, the restaurant will be offering 50% off of its house specialty mussels with over 35 exotic sauces on Monday (4/17) through Wednesday (4/19) and will be hosting DJ dinner parties on Thursday (4/20) through Saturday (4/22), wrapping up the festivities with a disco brunch on Sunday (4/23).
Owner Eric Agababayev envisioned providing NYC diners with a spirited and sophisticated seafood-forward experience for all to enjoy. With that vision in mind, Agababayev and his team at Mollusca began to build the space in March 2020 in the Meatpacking District. However, shortly after the pandemic hit, delays overcast their plan, but the team did not let that stop them from pursuing their dream and became inspired by Frank Sinatra’s words, “If I can make it there, I can make it anywhere.” And so, they persevered and did precisely that.
Mollusca opened its doors to welcome the public in April of 2022. From diners’ first steps into the stylish restaurant, they experience a luxurious, deep-sea feel, with the lights casting shadows of waves on the mirrored walls and hand-blown glass light bulbs with shapes reminiscent of jellyfish.
To match the interior, eye-catching presentations of dishes highlight the cuisine with a seafood-forward menu imbued with luxury ingredients like caviar, 24-karat gold flakes, uni, an extensive raw bar selection showcasing the Mollusca Seafood Tower, eight of each east and west coast oysters, six middle neck clams and six little neck clams, six prawns, ceviche, and Florida Stone Crab Claws. However, the showstopper is their 35 and counting unique mussel sauces—which their name pays homage to.
As time went on, the restaurant launched a brunch menu by Executive Chef Christian Bonilla to pair perfectly with their craft cocktails by Beverage Director Kate Uglova as well as offer a wide selection of spritzes and champagnes. Mollusca then welcomed in local talent to perform live music for most of the week.
Mollusca’s team has been through trial and tribulations but has always persevered with their mission to ensure that their diners can indulge in their delectable culinary creations, all while enjoying a delightful ambiance.
