An active summer begins with the newly launched Arc’teryx Konseal. This represents the next chapter in the brand’s most trusted approach shoe, refined with insights from mountain guides, athletes, and years of real-world testing in unforgiving terrain.

Originally introduced in 2018 with the Konseal FL, this series broke ground with its minimalist hidden u-throat design—rare in outdoor footwear at the time. Since then, the Konseal family has continued to evolve alongside the needs of professional climbers and guides. From the heavier-duty Konseal AR in 2019 to the slip-on Konseal LT in 2020, each iteration has been purpose-built for specific alpine demands.

The updated Konseal is a durable, high-performance approach shoe engineered to carry you and your load through the most rugged alpine environments. Key updates include:

• Improved heel hold for a more precise and blister-free fit during long approaches
• Optimized outsole for confident climbing traction on the uphill and improved grip on the descent
• Stable underfoot platform to support heavy packs across uneven terrain
• Updated construction: Now available exclusively in leather, with a GORE-TEX option for weather protection

UPPER
The upper is comprised of a natural nubuck leather, maximizing durability and breathability in warm climates. A new lacing system extends to the toe for a customized fit and features a lace garage to minimize distractions. Updated fit to secure the foot with improved heel-lock for blister prevention and surefootedness on alpine terrain.

MIDSOLE
The compressed EVA midsole is lightweight and provides optimal cushioning and shock absorption. A carbon shank has been added to provide underfoot stability and stiffness necessary for carrying heavy loads on uneven terrain. The midsole is wrapped in a lightweight, highly abrasion-resistant material to increase durability and extend the product’s lifespan.

OUTSOLE
The dual-purpose Vibram XS Flash 2 outsole has maximum grip which excels at smearing and provides overall rock-climbing confidence. The lug pattern provides superior traction, the design is optimized in the forefoot for climbing uphill and improved heel traction for hiking down.
