The NFL and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) have announced the second annual ‘NFL Latino Youth Honors’ recognizing outstanding high school tackle and flag football athletes from around the country for their academic and athletic excellence.
Later this year, all 32 NFL teams will be invited to nominate two exemplary high school senior football players to be considered for this year’s program. From this pool of nominees, eight students will be selected as finalists and will attend Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans.
In the week leading up to the Super Bowl, the eight finalists will also attend NFL Honors, where the two national winners will be announced. Thanks to this year’s presenting sponsor, Procter & Gamble, eight high school seniors will each receive a grant award that can be used for college, including $25,000 grants for both the male and female national winners and $5,000 grants for each of the six other finalists.
Now in its second season, the NFL Latino Youth Honors has already made an impact by helping the 2023 finalists fund their college education. The program is also helping foster the next generation of football players and fans, as four of the eight finalists accepted scholarships to play football in college – including 2023 national winner Peter Gonzalez at Penn State.
