The Right Wine For A Valentine’s Day Celebration

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and Maeve Pesquera, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar’s  National Wine director is playing match-maker and suggesting wines that can be paired based on the circumstance. Whatever the occasion may be, there is a perfect wine to pair it with.

Here are a few suggestion:

·         The perfect wine to drink when you’re proposing – Educated Guess (Cabernet Sauvignon 2010/11) – Proposing can be tough! Take a sip of this to relax before popping the big question. It’s my guess that if she drinks this, there’s no way she can say no!

·         The perfect wine to drink when you’ve been dumped – Pascual Toso Malbec (Red 2012) – Malbec is the new black and being dumped is low-down depressing!

·         The perfect wine to drink for anniversary (first, ten, etc.) – Iron Horse Wedding Cuvee (Champagne) – Because what better way to toast your love than with champagne! / Faust (Cabernet Sauvignon)-  “Nothing is worth more than this Day” is a quote in Goethe’s Faust

·         The perfect wine to drink on a first date – Predator Zin (Zinfandel 2010/2011) – Capture her heart by serving this wine. You’ll become irresistible!

·         The perfect wine to drink to impress her – Tommasi Poggio al Tufo (Cabernet Sauvignon 2010/11) – Because Italians (and knowledge of their wines) are impressive!
