The St. Regis Mexico City, the cosmopolitan hotel setting the highest standard for luxury and bespoke service in Mexico, has introduced its signature International Tea Ritual in celebration of the highly-anticipated 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This unique program will feature fine teas from locations around the globe that practice cultural tea rituals including China, Japan, England, India, Africa and Brazil. Taking place in the newly established Glass House Café, The St. Regis Mexico City’s bespoke International Tea Ritual series will showcase a variety of cultural teas and traditional tea ceremonies every month, leading up to the start of the 2016 Summer Olympics on August 5.
“Inspired by the upcoming Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, we wanted to celebrate different countries, cultures, and traditions joining together in a special and unique way,” said Bernard de Villèle, general director. “Since The St. Regis is known for its signature Tea Rituals, we are excited to enable our guests the opportunity to honor and learn about diverse cultures by enjoying tea and tea ceremonies performed throughout the world.”
Located at the historic Paseo De La Reforma, The St. Regis Mexico City embodies the best of hospitality. The elegant 31-story building, designed by legendary architect Cesar Pelli, features 189 captivating guestrooms, including 35 suites, and The St. Regis and Astor Suites, each with a gorgeous view of the bustling metropolis below.
Each room includes King or Queen sized beds, high speed internet access, oversized flatscreen TVs, in-room digital movie systems, three telephones, generous work space, and a private safe.
The centrally-located hotel caters to both the leisure crowd, with its renowned Remède Spa & Fitness Center exclusive to St. Regis brands around the world, and to the business set, with its extensive event facilities, including the 7,670-square-foot modular Astor Ballroom, a 2,000-square-foot Diamond Ballroom, and four large breakout rooms.
The Tea Ritual, since its creation in England in the early 1800’s by Anna Maria Russell, Duchess of Bedford, has long been associated with high society entertainment. Naturally, the Grande Dame of New York society, Caroline Astor, mother of Colonel John Jacob Astor IV and founder of The St. Regis, adopted this tradition.
The St. Regis Mexico City’s International Tea Ritual series will take place in the Glass House Café every day from February 8 to August 5, 2016 from 4 to 6 p.m.
