Umiltà 36 is the latest addition to the Shedir Collection portfolio of historical hotels built for the modern traveler. Located just a few steps from the world-renowned Trevi Fountain, the hotel embodies the majesty of the Roman architecture via its style, luxury, and refinement.
The building has been restored to its original grandeur with a renovation process that lasted over 18 months led by Caberlon Caroppi studio. The architects zeroed in on the original heights of the ceilings and the ample, single spaces that culminate in the Grand Hall — where the lobby is located — and put a spotlight on the original marble staircase that leads into the upper floors.
The property features 47 rooms, a literary cafe housed in the lobby lounge, a rooftop lounge and bar with unobstructed views of the Eternal City, and the on-property Argentinian restaurant, El Porteño. In addition, Umiltà 36 features an ample meeting room, with a maximum capacity of 30 people, and a state-of-the-art gymnasium.
The originality of the style, untouched by the passage of time, draws inspiration from the elegance of the 50’s, seamlessly blending minimalism with warm surfaces and hues, achieving the perfect balance between eccentricity and intimacy.
Claudio Ceccherelli, CEO of Shedir Collection comments, “We’re incredibly excited to announce the recent opening of Umiltà 36 and to enhance our Roman offer for different and unique hospitality experiences. Our new jewel will be rooted in the principles of simplicity, freshness, and cultural refinement, yet creating an evergreen sense of understated luxury.”
The luxury property — located at Via Umiltà 36 — offers its guests different room categories, suites, and apartments. The interior design celebrates the traditional mid-century architecture, the beguiling ceiling heights, and the warm wooden paneling bringing a royal allure to the decorative style.
The guest journey begins in the Grand Hall leading into the reception and lobby area and, in turn, to the main restaurant. Going up on the gargantuan marble staircase, the curated juxtaposition of the minimalist architecture with the rich, blue liberty wallpapers against the Gio Ponti-inspired furniture offers guests an exclusive multi-sensorial experience. The 29 Rooms and Suites are distributed throughout the first and second floors of the building while the two exclusive suites sit on the top floor, offering a mesmerizing view over Rome.
Furthermore, the property features an additional 18 apartments designed for guests looking for longer and more private stays: the living room spaces open up into a kitchen area, the bathrooms offer rain showers and double sinks, along with an astonishing marble floor.
Umiltà 36 provides the ultimate culinary journey with three different gastronomical experiences:
Dandy Café- inspired by the literati society, the impeccably designed cafe is a convivial space for guests to experience the gourmet lunch and dinner menus with signature cocktails, carefully-blended teas, and fine wines.
El Porteño Gourmet- a bold project signed by the Holding Dorrego Company of Fabio Acampora and Argentinian brothers Alejandro and Sebastian Bernardez, designed for an upscale clientele, the restaurant is ready to conquer an exquisite blend of aromas, flavors, and textures. Regardless of leisure or business purposes, the refined lounge area is the perfect spot for guests to treasure the vibrant atmosphere over lunch or dinner.
Terrace Flores- overlooking the historical city, the Cafeteria, Lounge Bar and Tapas Bar is a stylized study in indoor-outdoor living and the designated spot to watch the sunsets fade away through the ancient buildings, invoking a sense of relaxation high above the busy streets of the city with timeless beauty.
Opening rates start from 500 EUROS for a superior room.
