We visited their largest property in Nayarit which opened in 1997, and continues to innovate as proven by the Vidanta Vallarta Golf Course designed by Greg Norman which opened in 2015, and the new Cirque du Soleil spectacle set to begin later this year.

The compound consists of eight resort hotels to choose from, including Mayan Palace, DeLuxxe at the Grand Mayan, Kingdom of the Sun, and our favorite, the top tier property we explored, Grand Luxxe.

LUDÕ, Cirque du Soleil

There are 27 pools, 40 bars and restaurants, one mile of beaches, and believe it or not a thrilling theme park (VidantaWorld Nuevo Vallarta) which will soon add LUDÕ, its own Cirque du Soleil show. A reservation provides access to it all. The resort’s dimensions are overwhelming, yet depending on your preferences it can feel as intimate as you want to make it.

To get a sense of the size, when visiting, be sure to take the 4-mile, 150-foot-high SkyDream Parks Gondola which connects the parks and hotels and gives a panoramic view of the entire property.

GETTING THERE
Although  Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta seems remote, and feels like another world, it’s easy to get there. You can now arrive faster than ever with the new entrance located just outside the airport. It’s only 10 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta International, which as Mexico’s seventh most popular airport has direct or connecting flights from most major cities.  It’s also only 20 minutes from downtown Puerto Vallarta.
As you book reservations, make arrangements for resort transportation and pick up at PVR.

ACCOMMODATIONS
Grand Luxxe has the largest – and best – accommodations. Choose from Master Rooms; One or Two Bedroom Suites; Junior, One or Two Bedroom Villas; Presidential Suites or Villas; or Spa and Royal multiple bedroom spaces.
This stay includes a dedicated butler ready for your command, be it help with packing and unpacking, confirming your planned activities for the day, securing restaurant reservations, or making sure there’s a warm bath waiting upon return to your suite.

The comfort level is maximized depending on your room selection and can include a gourmet kitchen, a living room with sleeper sofa, dining room, Jacuzzi tub, a private plunge pool,  several bathrooms, king sized beds, plush bedding, and multiple private terraces.

DINING
With over 40 restaurants and lounges to choose from at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta you can travel the world through your palate. There are Mediterranean, Asian, Seafood, American, Italian, French, and Mexican options with selections ranging from high-end gourmet to more casual fare.
Here are three eateries we recommend.

Balché –
Located next to the Main Pool  this casual seafood restaurant captures the tropical vibes. It’s set in a picturesque backdrop with the ocean on one side, and pools and cabanas on the other. The menu consists of classic American dishes, Mexican favorites, and a selection of sides that are perfect for snack time. Most dishes are served with colorful and artistic presentations that only enhance the flavor.

To get there you will pass through Beachland, a seaside oasis with sculptures, beach chairs, swings, and plenty of places to create unique content. Relax, take in the sunshine and fresh air, and delight in a venue that encapsulates the Mexican pacific.

Quinto –
Take the elevator to the rooftop of Grand Luxxe’s new Tower 5 and you’ll be met with stunning views of Banderas Bay, the Ameca River, and the Sierra Madre Mountains. This is fine dining next to a pool, for a more relaxed the atmosphere.
Be sure to try the New York Tiradito, the Marrow Risotto (with red wine, Parmesan cheese, charred vegetables, and grilled marrow), and for a main course opt for the Grilled Octopus, Marinated Cornish, the Seared Porterhouse, or Lamb Rack. You can’t go wrong.

Tres Aromas –
This gastronomic journey uses local ingredients to deliver classic Mexican dishes prepared in a unique and elevated style. Enjoy the outdoor setting, and original artworks for a sublime dining experience.
