With the World Cup kicking into high gear, American soccer fans have two good reasons to pull for our Mexican neighbors to the south: free beer and free soccer tickets.
With the US sidelined and Mexico’s shocking victory over Germany, Anheuser-Busch’s Bud Light and Estrella Jalisco are going all-in on showing support for the Mexico National Team and rewarding American soccer fans that come along for the ride with El Tri.
Bud Light “Curse of the 5th Game” Declaration – Mexico has been knocked out in the Round of 16 in each of the past SIX World Cups. If they finally break the curse and advance to the 5thgame (thus reaching the quarterfinals), Bud Light will reward fans in California with FREE beer. The declaration was made through a newly-released Dilly Dilly-themed piece of digital video content.
Estrella Jalisco NAAFTA Treaty hosted an event in Los Angeles recently bringing together Alexi Lalas (U.S.), Dwayne de Rosario (Canada) and Luis Hernandez (Mexico) to sign the NAAFTA Treaty (North American Adopted Football Team Agreement) – uniting three countries to recognize the Mexico National Team as North America’s team during the World Cup. Fans can use the hashtag #VamosPorLaEstrella (a nod to getting Mexico its first star on the jersey) to get entered to win free beer and tickets to all Mexico soccer games in the U.S.
