This holiday season make your way to New York‘s Chelsea Market, for shopping – and exceptional dining.
It will be your opportunity to discover a stand out spot, hidden within the maze of shops. A Tavola is an Italian dining gem located within La Devozione’s pasta shop area. It offers a more casual, á la carte menu serving a selection of informal trattoria-style fare including starters, rotating seasonal pastas and signature Di Martino favorites.

If you’re a fan of Italian gastronomy you’re probably already familiar with The Oval, the  30-seat, open kitchen serving a fine-dining pasta tasting menu also located within La Devozione. Helmed by Michelin-starred chef Peppe Guida, The Oval provides an immersive dining experience showcasing seasonal ingredients and classic Neapolitan recipes that emphasize the creativity, quality and versatility of Di Martino’s wide range of PGI Gragnano pasta.

Now relax and experience A Tavola. You can choose a table, or for a more fun time opt for the counter and take in amusing anecdotes from the bartenders. The environment may feel casual but the food is top tier.

Delicious appetizers include ‘Lollipop Di Macaroni’ (Mac & Cheese with a truffle- hazelnuts sauce), or my favorite ‘Trottole Con Polpo,’ an exquisite Octopus, with tomato, parsley, capers, Gaeta black olives.

For the main course we highly recommend ‘Candele Spezzate con Ragù Napoletano’ (Neapolitan spare rib ragù, parmigiano), or the
‘Canneroni con Cozze Tarantina Style’ (Mussels, tomato concasse’). ‘Rosmarino Ceci E Gamberi’  (Chickpeas, shrimps, in rosemary oil) is another favorite.

When it comes to dessert you can’t go wrong with ‘Di Martino Pastiera’ (Grandma’s cake with ricotta cheese filling). Perhaps the most popular dessert is ‘Pastamisu’ (Pasta tiramisù). A Tavloa’s lunch menu may be viewed here.

In addition to A Tavola and The Oval the multi-concept pasta destination La Devozione includes a retail shop, and a coffee & cocktail bar. This was a dream of third generation pastaio Giuseppe di Martino, CEO & President of Pastificio Di Martino (est. 1912). La Devozione is an ode to pasta brought to life in New York City. This is the heritage pasta company’s first brick-and-mortar experience in the United States.

After dining stop by the pasta shop and add unique gifts to your shopping list. You’ll find over 126 of Pastificio Di Martino’s brightly packaged pastas showcasing traditional shapes like spaghetti, penne and rigatoni alongside finds like trottole, bombardoni and rosmarino, up to hand wrapped long shapes like candele and ziti.

Here you can choose to take home individual packages of pasta in one of Pastificio Di Martino’s signature shopping bags, or curate several to be packaged into one of the brand’s tins. The collaborative pasta tins include designs from Dolce&Gabbana and Barbie, among others.

To complement the pasta, a selection of colorful, hand-painted ceramics and plateware from Vietri’s famed Solimene Ceramica are on sale in the center of the pasta shop. You can also find additional ceramics by the Campania region’s designers Bhumi, alongside Pastificio Di Martino’s own accessories like branded Italian coffee moka pots, magnets and more.

For the more sophisticated diner, La Devozione’s The Oval offers a chef’s tasting counter with an a la carte lunch menu giving you the opportunity to sample the intricately designed pasta dishes with premium ingredients. The a la carte menu is divided into three categories, From the Garden (Vegetarian), From the Butcher (Meat and Poultry), and From the Sea.  Each plate of pasta is prepared a la minute and served 10-40 seconds after it is finished to ensure guests can enjoy the pasta at its peak texture and experience the full flavor profile of the dish. Both restaurants will be open on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve between the hours of 12pm to 3pm and will be closed on Christmas Day. On other days during the holiday season including New Years Day, both restaurants will be open regular hours.
