Sergio George, the successful record producer, pianist, composer, arranger, and only three time Latin GRAMMY winner for Producer of the Year is known for his work with some of the most emblematic artists in salsa and tropical music, under his label The Sergio George Company. Now he is entering a new phase by signing an agreement with Sony Music Latin for the creation and release of an innovative new album called Sergio George Presents: Urban Salsa Sessions.
Conceived with the goal of developing George’s vision for the evolution of Latin popular music worldwide, this new project will be a space of creative freedom in which the top stars in the urban genre will be enclosed in the studio with the best musicians in Latin music, to create the songs that the world will very likely be dancing to soon.
The songs will be recorded live in recording studios in Puerto Rico and Miami, capturing the natural essence of the artists interacting, creating with the musicians and mixing genres in Maestro Sergio George’s unique style; just he has done throughout his career, such as when he made La Combinación Perfecta, DLG, Celia Cruz & Mickey Perfecto (“La Negra Tiene Tumbao”), Salsa Giants, and more recently, produced Maluma with Marc Anthony (“La Formula,” “Felices los Cuatro”), Daddy Yankee with Marc Anthony (“De Vuelta Pa’ La Vuelta”), and Mike Towers at the Latin Grammys (2021).
“This record promises to be the catalyst for a new tropical music movement that will be felt for many years to come,” Maestro George expressed.
“At Sony Music, we’re excited to work on this unique project with Maestro Sergio George. Sergio is a visionary and a producer with an impeccable career, responsible for some of the biggest hits in Latin music. I’m sure that this album will mark a turning point for the salsa genre,” Alex Gallardo, president of Sony Music Latin, expressed.
Although the album itself is set for release later this year, fans will be able to enjoy the first irresistible singles from the project early this summer.
Sergio George is one of the most respected and successful producers in the Latin tropical genre and has achieved countless hits over the course of more than 30 years with major Latin music stars, such as Marc Anthony, Thalía, Jennifer López, Daddy Yankee, Maluma, Lenny Tavárez, Zion & Lennox, Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Leslie Grace and Prince Royce, among many others.
