December means entertaining, constant family dining, and gift giving. A brand to consider for any holiday celebrations is Syosaku. The Japanese company offers handmade, one-of a-kind Urushi Glass Plates and kitchen knives hand-forged by master Japanese artisans. For home cooks, dedicated professional chefs, hosts of elegant dinners it’s the perfect addition to any gift list.

This exquisite tableware is sure to make all festivities memorable.

KNIVES:
The knives are designed by Syosaku’s founder, Toshi Sekiya, and artisans from Sakai, a port city in Japan with a centuries long history of forging knives dating back to the samurai era.

Each process of creating the knives is divided among specialists and small producers, forging the metal, creating the handles, combining the knives, and finishing them. Depending on the knife, it can take up to six months for the artisans to craft a finished product. Each knife can be custom ordered according to the consumer’s preference by handedness, a variety of different wooden handles, and engraved with a name in Chinese characters on the blade.

Ranging in size, specificity and artistry, chefs can find knives at price points between $55 – $3,000. The various knives Syosaku offers include: Gyutochef’s knife; Santoku, multi-purpose knife; Sujiki, slicing knife; Nakiri, vegetable knife; and Yanagiba, sashimi knife, among others.

PLATES:
Syosaku has a beautiful line of Urushi glass plates. Urushi is a lacquer that has been used on wood in Japan for over 9,000 years, including in building the Kinkaku-Ji (the Golden Temple). Their innovative process allows them to create stunning glass plates that are equally as functional as they are works of art. Each plate undergoes a one-month process of layering the Urushi, drying the lacquer, and painting.

Since each plate is made individually, they are all one-of-a-kind pieces. Syosaku is able to fulfill custom orders, featuring any size, shape, or design that can be desired, as well ready-to-purchase plates. Urushi glass plates have incredible depth and provide vividness that cannot be found in china or porcelain.
For ready-to-purchase plate price points, prices range from $329.99 to $399.99.

The beauty and quality of Syosaku knives and plates make them ideal for both a striking kitchen display and an expertly cooked meal, while their customizable features make them great for a touching and long-lasting gift.

Syosaku’s products are available  at www.syosaku-japan.com or Amazon.com.
