Woolrich Inc. has just released their second “Wax and Wool” collaboration with Almond Surfboards & Designs. Inspired by the heritage of outdoor clothing company Woolrich, and the coastal lifestyle of Southern California’s Almond, the new collection is the Surfer-Craftsman’s dream. As Almond founder Dave Allee says, “Our collaboration with Woolrich fits nicely into our mantra and we’ve had the tremendous pleasure of working with the Woolrich team to design and manufacture select pieces that speak to the values and aesthetics of both brands.”

The 100% made in the USA collection includes graphic tees, crewneck fleece, twill shorts, bleach blankets and hats… but the coolest piece of the collaboration? Every surfer has the opportunity to order a newly designed, custom-built Almond x Woolrich Surfboard.  Each board is hand-shaped by Almond using graphics inspired by Woolrich, including the classic buffalo check, a topographic print of the Allegheny Mountains surrounding the historic Woolrich Woolen Mill, and an all over “surfing sheep” custom logo created for the collaboration.

The ‘Wax and Wool’ SS16 Collection includes graphic tees inspired by the intersection between America’s Oldest Outdoor Clothing Company, based in Pennsylvania since 1830, and Almond, who began hand-shaping surfboards in Newport Beach, California in the early 2000s.

The Surfing Sheep T-shirt features the logo Almond developed with Woolrich for this collection, which can also be found on the five limited-edition surfboards that we built to accompany the collaboration. 100% cotton, silicone and enzyme washed and Made in California. The Trekker Twill Short gives a nod to both the early surf culture’s iconic patch pockets and outdoor-inspired boot lace draw-string. Pre-washed, 100% cotton twill.

In a nod to Woolrich’s heritage, the Iconic buffalo check pattern Woolrich first introduced to the United States in the 1850s has been incorporated throughout the collection in small hits. The subtle use of the pattern on the bottom of the Surfing Sheep Pin Hat brim and the placket of the Almond x Woolrich Henley bring an authentic Woolrich feel to the collection. Two-tone Mount Davis Crewneck fleece, named after the highest peak in Pennsylvania, is a tonal stone spring necessity for early risers. Featuring a leather Almond + Woolrich “Surfing Sheep” patch on the front in a 90/10 cotton-poly blend and pre-washed for shrinkage.
