Legendary resorts don’t come around everyday. When a hotel resort is able to last 43 years, evolve with the times and manage to remain one of the best properties in their category it’s easy to take notice. Such is the case with Turnberry Isle, a property that’s still a favorite of sophisticated travelers in search of the best.
Turnberry Isle is Florida’s iconic luxury staple. Located in Miami’s exclusive and beautiful Sunny Isles, the resort combines plush accommodations, a Michael Mina five star restaurant, an award winning Autograph Collection spa, two golf courses and its own private beach. Why go anywhere else when you can have it all in Sunny isles?
Of course for our HOMBRE readers one of the top attractions at Turnberry Isle is the golf courses. Originally designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., both 18-hole championship golf courses – the Soffer and Miller Courses – have been redesigned by the respected Raymond Floyd.
The landscape is serene and picturesque making each hole a pleasure to play. Lose yourself in lush greenery, palm trees, blooming flowers and one the highest man made waterfalls built, a 64-foot high creation that circulates more than 20,000 gallons of water per minute. No wonder they’ve hosted several major PGA and LPGA professional tournaments, and are regularly voted one of the ‘Best’ courses in the world.
Turnberry Isle underwent a $150 million transformation completed in December 2007 and since then had further renovations. All leading to the creation of what remains one the best properties in Florida. The resort covers over 300 acres and it’s only 12 miles south of Fort Lauderdale International Airport and 18 miles north of Miami International Airport – and across the street from the Aventura Mall.
The resort is a complex of buildings designed in grandiose Mediterranean-style. Walking through the grounds you will encounter a courtyard reminiscent of ones found in Spanish castles, beautiful fountains, large pools and of course the golf courses is within view.
