With a blowout score of Seahawks 43 to the Broncos 8, the game may have put you to sleep; but during half time Peter Gene Hernandez – also known as Bruno Mars – brought to the field the most excitement the game ever saw.
Many questioned why 28 year old Hernandez would follow on the footsteps of Beyonce, Madonna, The Rolling Stones and Prince; performers with a large trajectory and worldwide followings. By comparison Bruno Mars is a newcomer with only 2 albums to his credit.
All doubts were erased when the artist took the stage with a drum solo and proceeded to bring everyone to their feet with thrilling renditions of “Locked out of Heaven,” and “Treasure.”
He was joined on stage by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers for the exhilarating “Give it away.” Mars closed his set with “Just the way you are” culminating in an spectacular fireworks display.
In attempt to woo younger viewers the NFL took a gamble and hit the jackpot.
Mars was born Peter Gene Hernandez in Hawaii, son to a Puerto Rican and Filipino mother. He began as a songwriter and background vocalist penning the hits “Nothing on you” with b.ob. and “Billionaire” with rock-rap star Travie McCoy ( Gym Class Heroes). He had huge hits with Flo Rida’s “Right Round,” and Cee Lo Green’s “F–k You.”
A fan of Elvis and Michael Jackson, Mars infused his performance with rockabilly stylings and electric dance moves reminiscent of a young James Brown.
His hits “Just the Way You Are,” “Grenade,” “Locked Out of Heaven,” and “When I Was Your Man;” all topped the Billboard Hot 100 singles charts and combined have over one BILLION views on YouTube!
Mars won Grammys for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “Just the Way You Are” in 2011, and Best Pop Vocal Album for Unorthodox Jukebox in 2014. He has been nominated 18 times.
